Congratulations to our Odyssey of the Mind
teams who competed in the Eastern Regional
tournament over the weekend:
Our Food Court Team came in 7th place; the
Discovered Treasures team came in 6th place; the
Nature Trail'R Team came in 4th place;
and the Return to the Gift of Flight came in 2nd place earning
an invitation to the STATE finals!
Way to go Wildcats! You represented West Millbrook well.... Good
luck at the State Finals in April!
Parents of Rising 9th Graders - For
all parents/guardians of rising 9th grade students, please frequently
check your high school's web-site for updated registration and
visitation information. For links to all WCPSS high school websites,

Make
up days set for snow absences - February
15, originally a teacher workday, was our first make-up
day. The remaining two days will be made up on
June 10, and
the first day originally scheduled for Spring
Break, March 29.
Career Day Postponed
- Due to the snow, Career
Day has been postponed to April 21. Many thanks to speakers
and volunteers who were prepared and ready to participate
in career day on February 3. Speakers, please confirm with

Student Transition Info - The Wake Co. PTA
Council invites all Wake County School System parents & guardians
to its Family Day on Saturday May 1, 2010 at Millbrook High
School
on Spring Forest Road. The program will focus on the best
ways to handle students' transitions from Pre-Kindergarten
to High School. Spanish-language sessions will also be
offered. The registration form is available on the WCPSS
website. Parents without computer access, or with limited
English, can register by calling Betty Diaz at (919) 858-1657.
2009 - 2010 Pilot for the Writing Instruction
System -
In May of 2009, the State Board of Education approved the
proposal for the 2009-2010
Writing Instruction System. This replaced the previous version
of the North Carolina Writing Test at grades 4 and 7. Download

Parent E-mail Lists - West
Millbrook offers parents an opportunity to keep up-to-date
on school-wide and team-specific happenings via e-mail announcements.An
e-mail list has been set up for every grade level team. If
you have more than one student at West Millbrook, we encourage
you to sign-up on every team's mail list in the event that
team specific mail is sent. Please understand that you will
receive duplicates for any messages that are distributed
to all team mail lists. Your e-mail subscription must be
set up at the beginning of EACH new school year. To subscribe:
Log-in to the e-mail account that you wish to receive messages.
Address a new message to dwalters@wcpss.net. In the subject
line type: SUBSCRIBE TO THE ________ TEAM E-MAIL LIST. (The
team name of your student must be inserted in the blank for
your request to be processed.)

Millbrook students need you! Volunteering offers
multi-faceted benefits! Not only do volunteer
activities help you develop a strong connection
to your child's school, volunteering is also
a a great way to have fun while providing an
invaluable service. The West Millbrook community
needs you! A PTA volunteer form will be posted
in this space shortly. In the interim, please
drop by the school office and complete the
