Economics Project

Project Guidelines:

Step One:
Using a search engine of your choice, or NCWiseOwl, research the terms:
1. Command Economy
2. Mixed Economy
3. Traditional Economy

Take notes from your research. Be sure to include definitions, URLs, and examples of countries with these types of economies.

Step Two:
Determine if you want to do your project alone or with a partner. (Partners will work on the same topic and will brainstorm together, but will each be responsible for their own writing assignment)

Step Three:
Decide which of the three economies in step one you would like to discover more about. Select one of the countries that you listed under your economy of interest.

Step Four:
Pretend that you are a citizen of the country you chose in step three. You are the same age that you are now.

Step Five:
You need to know all about living in that country. (If you chose to work with a partner, you may work together on this step and may brainstorm as you are finding the answers.)

Step Six:
Using the information you have discovered in the previous steps, write a fictional story, but based on true facts. In the story, describe a week in your life. Be sure to include information about your school, your parents work, what you do on the weekend. Describe your needs and wants, as well as how these needs and wants are met.

Be sure to use plenty of descriptive words to make your story interesting!

When finished, your story should be two typed pages or more in no more than a
14-point font.

When you finish:
Go to the Computer Skills Test web page. There you will find links to a large variety of information related to the 8th Grade Computer Skills test.  Not only with this give you a great review for the test that you must pass to graduate from high school, but it will also help you to prepare for our upcoming projects in BCT-2.  Since this is an advanced computer class, we will not spend much time on the basics of spreadsheets, databases, or mulitmedia.  You may want to review the general information links, or go to one of the many links that has sample test questions.
