"Top 100 Companies to Work For" Presentation Requirement:

Presentation requirements:

  • Imagine that you are a member of the Public Relations department for your selected company. The Human Resources department has asked you to create a presentation to run in the background at a Job Fair Booth where the ":Top 100 Companies" are competing for the nations best recent college graduates.
  • Create an eye-catching presentation that shows the best of your company.
  • Use PowerPoint software.
  • Make brief, bulleted statements on the slides, since the job fair participants will not have time to stand around and read long presentations.(DO NOT copy and paste from the website, or the highest grade you can make will be a 70.)

Include:

  • What is the company famous for?
  • List a few of the company's products
  • 2010 Revenue (or more recent if you can find it)
  • Is the company a public or private corporation? If public, what is the ticker symbol and how has the stock performed in the past two years. (You may have to use links you used in the SMG to find this information.)
  • Anything else that is unique about your company.
  • Who is the CEO? Tell a little about the CEO. (Educational background, previous experience, other interesting things.)
  • Grading Rubric (Word Document)

When you have completed above:

  • Critique your own slideshow and ask at least one other person to critique it.
    • Have you set it up to run on its own? (Through the animation tab)
    • Is there enough time for the viewer to read each slide, but not so much time that they get bored waiting for the next slide?
    • Is the text easy to read? (Large enough? Simple font? Color of font easy on the eyes? Background colors are not distracting?)
    • Do the graphics that you chose for each page complement your company's products and unique features?
    • Have you met all of the slide requirements listed above?
  • Create one last slide...
    • With your new knowledge of your company, evaluate and explain why you believe the company is considered on of the best places to work in the US this year. (For a company to be a great place to work, the employees should feel valued and love going to work each day. Look for reasons for your company that employees feel this way.)

Careers in Management and Careers in IT Presentation Requirements:

Students will use the Occupational Outlook Handbook to consider the factors involved in preparing for careers in management. They will research a career of interest and present that career, and it's requirements, to the class.

Needed links:

Instructions:

Develop a presentation to share with the class. Include visuals of your choice, that introduces your career of interest and includes the

  • Nature of Work
  • Working Conditions
  • Education/Training and Qualifications
  • Job Outlook
  • Projected/Potential Earnings
  • Extra information to make your presentation interesting
  • DO NOT COPY and paste information. Use bullets and short sentences to make each page interesting. TOO MUCH TEXT is boring, and will tempt you to read during the presentation.
