Computer Class Road to Success
It's going to be a great semester in computer class! We will enjoy getting to know each other and learning together. To create the best possible learning environment, it is essential to have a few guidelines/expectations in place. Most of them can be summed up in three little rules:
- Be Prompt.
- Be Prepared.
- Be Polite and Respectful.
Be Prompt:
- Be on time and in your seat when the tardy bell rings.
Be Prepared:
- Bring your computer binder, pencils, and your assignment book each day.
- Be prepared to learn and have fun learning. A positive attitude will reap great
rewards!!!
Be Polite and Respectful:
- The Golden Rule rules our classroom.
- Good manners will earn you respect in the classroom and in life!
- Listen when someone else is speaking.
- Respect your classmate's right to learn. Keep your hands, and objects in your
hands, to yourself and always conduct yourself in a manner that will not disrupt
class.- Respect all computer hardware and software ~ damage or damaging behavior
will not be tolerated.
Rewards for Good Behavior and Class Involvement
Fun Friday! Fun Fridays occur on the last Friday of the month and are offered to students who do not receive out-of-class discipline during that month. On Fun Fridays, our regular classwork is set aside for the day and you will be allowed to create a "Here's My Life" power point presentation or explore some of the other wonderful software available at West Millbrook that is not a normal part of our curriculum. You will also be allowed to visit my web site if you wish. It has links to fun keyboarding and computer activities.
The Student of the Month Award will be presented on "Fun Friday" to the student who reflects the high ideals of our school and of this class. Some months, the recipient will be the one with the highest test averages. Other months, the recipient will be one who has demonstrated an A+ Attitude, and still other times, it may be the one with the highest speed and accuracy in keyboarding, or one whom I've observed demonstrating one of our "Outstanding Character Traits." Always, the students will be ones who have participated in class activities, turned in all of their work, and followed our class expectations. This student will receive a certificate, which I will post on the wall until the quarter ends. The student will also receive a candy bar of choice, such as a Reese's Cup pack, a Hershey Bar, or two Air Heads. The student may also get their photo on our class web site, if Mom or Dad signs an authorization. Go to www.wmms.net and click "Walters" in the Vocational Department column.
Other rewards for good behavior might include notes home and occasional treats or prizes when the whole class is "on task".
