Notes about Invitations and General Alignment

Automatic Centering - The word processing feature used to center announcements or invitations across the paper.

Horizontal Centering - Text that has the same number of spaces to the left and to the right of center.

Word Processing Software and Desktop Publishing Software,are the best for creating invitations.

Notes about Templates:

Template - A ready made document that is used several times.

Templates are useful because they are part of software packages.
Not only are templates available for invitations and envelopes, but also for creating letterhead
stationery, etc. (See the task wizard in MS Works for other types of templates.)
Templates have layouts for various items you may want to produce. These layouts include special fonts, pictures, drawings, etc.

Notes about Vertical Alignment:

There are 66 lines on a full sheet of typing paper (10 point font.)
There are 6 lines in a vertical inch on typing paper (10 point font.)
Text that is centered vertically has the same top and bottom margin.
A standard page is 8 1/2 inches by 11 inches.
A legal page is 8 1/2 inches by 14 inches.
