School begins on Monday, August 29. All students will report directly to their first period class. Most students picked up schedules last Wednesday and know who their first period teachers are. If you did not pick up a schedule on Wednesday please log in to NCEdCloud to review your schedule. If you need help finding your first period class on Monday, guidance counselors and administrators will be in the grade level buildings and cafeteria with this information.
School begins promptly at 8:15am. If you are carpooling please allow extra time the first few days while carpool processes become routine. Parents should pull all the way forward before allowing students to exit cars. Students may exit cars at 7:45am.
Bus routes are available online. There are many changes to bus routes this year. We are suggesting that all families check route information on the website.
It usually takes 3 -5 days for cafeteria procedures to become routine. If your child is anxious about lunch you may wish to pack his/her lunch the first few days. If your child will be buying lunch please make certain he knows his PowerSchool ID number as he will need to enter it in order to purchase lunch. Please remind students they may only go through the line one time. If you need to put money on a lunch account please contact our cafeteria manager Debbie Vandewalker.
Please make certain students are complying with dress code when they come to school. We do not want students to miss valuable class time waiting for a change of clothes to be delivered to the school.
Please make certain you’ve made after school and transportation arrangements with your child before our school day begins. We are happy to assist you with an emergency message but are unable to take routine messages for students. Also, please note that students who are leaving school early must be checked out prior to 2:45pm.
The City of Raleigh has established parking restrictions on Mourning Dove and Heathfield Drive that include No Parking, No Stopping and No Standing. The City of Raleigh Public Works Department has asked us to remind parents that they are not permitted to use this area as a drop off/pick up for students. Raleigh City Police Officers will issue tickets to those that violate these established restrictions.
Ms. Oliver reminds students that they do not need band instruments on Monday.
Athletic tryouts begin on Tuesday for football, girls soccer and volleyball. Bring your completed athletic participation forms with you. Tryouts are immediately after school until 5pm. Students must have a valid physical in order to tryout. More information may be found on our website. Click on the athletics tab.
Cheerleading tryouts are postponed until further notice.
I communicate with parents through a variety of tools: weekly phone and email blasts, Twitter, my blog and Remind. To sign up for the email lists, Twitter or Remind, please visit our school website.
I am looking forward to a wonderful school year and can’t wait to see our Wildcats Monday morning.
