Friday, February 10 is an early release day. Students will be released at 12:30pm and faculty will be in professional learning during the afternoon. On Friday, our students will participate in the annual school-wide Career Day! If you need to check your student out during the day please allow extra time as we will not be able to call into classrooms during the Career Day activity.
February 6 – 10 is National School Counseling Week. West Millbrook is fortunate to have 3 outstanding school counselors. We are very proud of Ms. Kimel, Mr. Wishon and Ms. Leon and appreciate all they do for our students.
In honor of school counseling week, West Millbrook will have spirit days this week.
Monday Feb. 6th: My Future is Bright Day (emphasizing academic success); wear bright colors
Tuesday Feb. 7th: Team Player Day (emphasizing getting along with others) wear your favorite team's shirt
Wednesday Feb. 8th: Wacky Wednesday (emphasizing diversity and it's ok to be different) wear wacky clothes
Thursday Feb. 9th: College Day (emphasizing college awareness) wear your favorite college's shirt
Friday Feb. 10th: Dress for Success Day (emphasizing career awareness) wear dress clothes (bonus, this day is also Career Day).
All students who participate in a dress up day will put their name into a bucket, and we will pick one winner from each grade level and they will win a free wireless speaker. Each day a student participates, they get to put their name in, so the more days they dress up the better the chance of winning.
To increase campus security, West Millbrook is now using the LobbyGuard system for student sign out and visitor check in. Please bring your drivers license with you when you come to check out your student or if you are volunteering. You will scan your license in the LobbyGuard system to do both.
WCPSS is migrating to a new system for communicating with parents. The new communication tools will include email and text. It is critical that we have correct home phone, email and cell phone information for all students. Please stop by the main office to update your information.
Report cards were sent home with students on Friday. Please sign the report card envelope and return it to school with your student.
Our school dining room is starting a new service. They will provide reminder phone calls on Wednesday afternoons to families who are nearing a low balance on their child’s school meals account. Child Nutrition Services has developed a system so only those families who need the reminder will get a phone call. We expect the service to begin late February.
Parents of 8th graders who will attend Sanderson High School may attend a school tour on February 9 at 4pm. Sanderson’s rising 9th grade open house is on February 23 from 6pm – 8pm
Basketball is at West Millbrook Thursday.
