WebQuest and Project

Long before you ever enter the job market, you must begin planning for your first career. It is important to consider your personality traits, things you enjoy doing, and things you do well. This project will get your started considering your future career possibilities.

WebQuest:

  1. Type the zip code of your school in the zip code box, and your first name or initials in the identification box. Then Click "Begin NC Careers."
  2. Discover Career Options by Matching Your Personality Characteristics to Occupations. Click the word, "EXPLORE" and take the Career Key, a fun questionnaire. You will answer questions about yourself. Be VERY HONEST. If you feel that you could answer the same question in more than one way, choose the first answer that seems appropriate. From this questionnaire, a Career Key profile will be created. You will use your profile to identify jobs that are likely to fit you.
  3. Find Current Information about North Carolina Occupations by using the OCCUPATIONS tab of the NC Careers Website.
  4. Locate North Carolina's Post-Secondary Education and Training Programs and Sites using the EDUCATION AND TRAINING tab on the website.
  5. With this information, complete the essay assignment.

Essay Project:

After completing the above WebQuest, write a two to three page essay summarizing what you discovered. You should prepare your project in a 10-12 point, easy-to-read font. Please double-space your paragraphs.

Requirements:

1. Using the six Holland Personality types, name and describe the two traits that best describe your personality. (Realistic, Investigative, Artistic, Social, Enterprising, Conventional) (One or two paragraphs.)

2. Give information about the career that most interests you. (Three - five paragraphs.)

3. Tell about the educational requirements for the career of your choice. (One or two paragraphs.)

4. Give the job outlook for the profession of your choice (projected demand for people in this career.) (One or two paragraphs.)

5. In one or two paragraphs, outline your high school plans to accomplish this goal.  Wake County High School Information.

6. Finish with a closing paragraph that will tie it all together, and reflect on what you learned about yourseld during this career exploration.

REMEMBER: Plaigerism is against the law. Be sure to write the report in your own words!!!
